Young South-African soprano MERCY MALIELOA finished her BACHELOR's Degree of Art, Music & Society at the Northwest University & Coservatory of Music, and obtained her MASTER’s Degree at the Conservatory for Music and Dance in Cologne, studying with Prof. Brigitte Lindner and Prof. Josef Protschka, with whom she is working also currently. She completed her edication in Masteclasses with Helmut Deutsch, Susanna Eken, Klesie Kelly-Moog, Johann Martin Kränzle, Lothar Odinius, Kobie van Rendsburg, Johannes Truninger, Stefan Wehr,Dominic Wheeler and Dolora Zajick, in the Opernstudio Kapstadt, as well as in the ENOA Mozart Academy in Aix-En-Provence / France. Since the 2022/23 season, Mercy Malieloa is a member of the Ensemble at Aalto Theater Esse / Germany, where she in the 2023/24 sees the parts of DESPINA in Mozart's "Cosi fan tutte" (Cover Fiordiligi), of ELIZA DOOLITTLE in Loewe's "My Fair Lady", JEANNETTA in Joseph Bologne's "L'Amant Anonyme", WITCH & MARTA in Louise Bertin's "Fausto" (German premiere) and MUSETTA in Puccini's "La Bohème", which she also will perform as guest at Theater Hagen. In the previous season, Mrs Malieloa appeared in Essen as 1. DAME in Mozart’s „Zauberflöte“, BARBARINA in „Le Nozze die Figaro", EIN JUNGER HIRT in Wagner‘s „Tannhäuser“ and the SOPRANO-Part in Samawathie's & Kron's "Aufbruch - A Merry Odyssee" . Furtehrmore, she will cover OSCAR in Verdi’s „Un Ballo in Maschera“ and VIOLETTA in Verdi’s "La Traviata" and SUSANNA in „Le Nozze di Figaro“ .
Until the 201/22 season, she was a member of the des Opera-Studio NRW (including the Aalto Theater Essen Essen / the Oper Dortmund / the Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen and the Oper Wuppertal), appearing on the main stages as MUSETTA in Puccini’s „La Bohème“ at Aalto Theater Essen, as SOPRAN and SCHÖNE FRAU in „Jauchzet, frohlocket“, after J. S. Bach's “Weihnachtsoratorium”, with additional compositions by Carl Orff, Arvo Pärt, Hanns Eisler and Dario Fo; as BELISA in Paisiello’s „Il re Teodoro in Venezia“ and HELENE in a movie-produktion of Hindemith’s „Hin-und zurück“ at Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen. There, she also sang the SOPRANO-Part in Mozart‘s "Requiem" in the Ballett-Evening „Requiem / The Lost Ones“ And ANNINA in Verdi’s „La Traviata“, EIN JUNGER HIRT in Wagner’s „Tannhäuser“ and PRIMADONNA in the EPILOG of R. Strauss "Ariadne auf Naxos" brought her toOper Wuppertal Besides, she embodied FIORDILIGI in Mozart’s „Cosí fan tutte“ in a production of the Music Conservatory Cologe, and LA NINFA in Monteverdi’s „L’Orfeo“ in a production of the Music Conservatoryin Kapstadt; performed SKLAVIN in R. Strauss‘ „Salome“ at Cape Town Opera; and sang the SOPRAN-Part in Haydn’s „Die Schöpfung“ in Johannesburg and Haydn’s „Missa in Angustiis“ at the Rheingau Musik Festival. Mercy Malieloa is a proud 1st PRIZE-WINNER at the <Samro Overseas Scholarshio Competition> in Joahnesburg, at the <II. UNISA National Vocie Competition> in Pretoria and at the <ATKV Muziqanto National Voice Competition> in Kapstadt; of the 3rd PRIZE at the <VI. UNISA Internatinoal Competition> in Pretoria and at the <VII. Galina Vishnevskaya International Singing Competition> in Moskau, and of the 4th PRIZE at the <Mirjan Helin International Singing Competition> in Helsinki. Furthermore, she was a FINALIST at the <Opera Crown Tbilisi International Voice Competition> and a SEMI-FINALIST at the <X. Moniuszko International Vocal Competition> in Warszawa and 2021 at the <Queen Sonja International Music Competition>. And in 2022, she was awarded by NWU & Conservatory of Music with the ALUMNI-AWARD. Season 2023/24 .
